This portion of HIPAA education covers the concepts and principles associated with the Security Rule. It is a key part of the HIPAA federal legislation enacted in August of 1996.

The Security Rule was established to protect the integrity, confidentiality and availability of Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI).
